A Minnesota State University – Mankato student died last week when his plane crashed into a forest.
The 24-year-old’s single-engine plane crashed in central Wisconsin Thursday afternoon.
It was believed the man had been flying to the Merrill airport. The wreckage was found in a heavily wooded area in the Town of Bern Wednesday afternoon. Federal aviation officials said it took them nearly four hours to find the crash site and he was dead on the scene.
No one else was in the plane at the time of the crash. The pilot had not been in radio contact with any officials before the crash. He was reportedly licensed to fly both single and double-engine planes.
